3 Day Weather Forecast

Anglesey Circuit is located just off the A4080 between Rhosneigr and Aberffraw.

If travelling from the Midlands you have two choices:
Either head north to Chester and go along the A55 towards Bangor
Or travel up the A5 to Bangor, this route is not recommended in a van.

Cross the Britannia Bridge onto Anglesey, continue West along the new A55 dual carriageway for approximately 12 miles. Look for the white on brown tourism sign indicating the junction for the circuit. Follow the A4080 signposted Rhosneigr and Aberffraw. Continue past Rhosneigr which is situated to the right of the A4080 on towards Aberffraw. Just under 5 miles from leaving the dual carriageway (A55) look for white on brown tourism signs at a small crossroads and turn right towards the circuit.

Visitors travelling from the port of Holyhead should travel East along the A55 for approximately 7 miles then take the A4080 as described above.

Anglesey Circuit is located just off the A4080 between Rhosneigr and Aberffraw in Anglesey, North Wales.

Originally called Ty Croes, the Anglesey racing circuit arose out of a fertile conversation between car racer Richard Peacock and Michael Douglas, manager of the Bodorgan Estate.

Since it opened for bike racing in 1992, and car racing in 1997, Anglesey has become a popular addition to the national scene.

The Bodorgan Estate has owned the land on which the circuit is sited for centuries, temporarily selling it to the Army in 1941, when it was developed as a rocket launching area. The estate was recently able to buy back much of what it had sold, complete with the network of roads the Army had installed. In common with many UK tracks, the roads were linked and improved and, hey presto, a race track.

Anglesey now plays host to bike and car races, rallycross and single venue rallies. Plans are afoot to lengthen the existing 1.7km track and create a facility capable of running different events at the same time.

So what can you expect if you visit this far corner of North Wales? Anglesey is a fairly short, but quite fast circuit, with lap times typically similar to the Brands Indy Circuit. Contained within are some really challenging bends, perhaps making Anglesey the Welsh equivalent of Knockhill, only much wider.

The track has recently been resurfaced and grip is good. The runoff areas are, for the most part, fairly good as well, which makes the track reasonably safe. Whilst good fast corners are few in Britain, the first corner at Anglesey (School Corner, similar to Gerrards at Mallory) is up there with the best of them. With their climbs, descents and twisting curves, the Radar Complex and Douglas/Mountain View are a real roller coaster of a ride, and technical sequences and crucial to a quick lap. With its twisty undulating course, comparisons to Cadwell Park are easily drawn, except that Anglesey is again much wider. However, there is one thing that sets Anglesey apart form all of the other tracks in the UK, and that is its setting. With the Snowdonia Mountains and the Irish Sea as a backdrop, Anglesey must surely rank as one of the most spectacular race track settings in the World.

Although Anglesey is within easy reach of the Manchester/Liverpool area, for many mainland dwellers it is a long trip. But, just like Knockhill and Cadwell, it is well worth the effort.
